WHAT / WHEN / WHERE / WHY
Welcome to Conversations on a Bus! You’re probably wondering what this is all about. Here it is in a nutshell.
WHAT
Conversations on a Bus is a photo and story telling art project documenting Omaha bus passengers.
WHEN / WHERE
July 1st, we start riding the buses. Throughout the month of July we intend to ride every bus line in the Omaha Metro system, some even twice. Because everyone knows that the crowd that rides the downtown buses on weekday mornings is not the same as the crowd that rides weekend evenings.
August 1st, we retire our bus passes and head to the editing. The amazing poet and author, Sarah McKinstry-Brown, will compile the interviews that we gathered, plucking the threads that tie everyone on the bus together to weave their stories and find their connections.
September 7th, we unveil the photos! Our gallery opening will be held at the Omaha Metro Headquarters. Visit our Grand Opening page for more details.
After that, the gallery is on the move for 5 months. Check the Gallery Calendar page for the when and where.
WHY
This project was born out of our love of photography, art, anthropology and the ability a photograph has to tell an individual’s story.
Check out our FOLLOW US post to find out how to keep up on the project.
This sounds like an amazing project, looking forward to reading more. I took a Greyhound cross country from Connecticut to Oklahoma to college three times when I was 17/18 years old.
Caught mono from a girl I sat next to on a bus, crummy way to start my sophomore year.
